Russia, Belarus Discuss Foreign Policy, Mutual Cooperation
Sergey Lavrov and Maxim Ryzhenkov talked on the phone, with Lavrov updating his Belarusian peer regarding the outcomes of US-supported ceasefire talks held in Saudi Arabia the previous day.
In an interview with Channel One, Lavrov emphasized that the primary focus of the talks was on ensuring safe navigation in the Black Sea.
The two diplomats also exchanged perspectives on bilateral integration, including their joint efforts at the United Nations and other international forums, the Foreign Ministry stated.
Additionally, the ministers reviewed the upcoming schedule for high-level meetings between Russia and Belarus.
Russia and Belarus share strong political, military, as well as economic relations, which have only strengthened since the onset of the Ukrainian conflict in February 2022.
Previously, Russian Leader Vladimir Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko inked multiple deals this month, one of which addressed the “mutual protection of citizens from unjustified prosecution by foreign states and international justice bodies,” as reported by the Kremlin.
